Where to Eat in St Ives: Part Two – New Twists to Old Places

The culinary scene in St Ives is certainly never dull! There’s always a new restaurant, bar or café to try out, and even those we’ve had with us for years and years are often shaking things up and trying something new. We just don’t like to stay still!

As the second post in our two-part ‘Where to Eat’ series, we wanted to take a look at some of the eateries that have undergone recent changes and improvements. This isn’t to say that the places weren’t good before, it just seems as though there’s no limit to how far our culinary greatness can go! Check out these spots that have long been a part of our community but have undergone some changes.

Porthmeor Beach Café

If you fancy sipping your favourite cocktail whilst the cool sea breeze gently moves around you and the sun sets over the sea, Porthmeor Beach Café have got just the spot for you! Their new open-air cocktail bar experience allows for some incredible views and equally incredible drinks! They’ve also extended their al fresco dining area which features heated pods, so you can enjoy outdoor dining throughout the year, no matter what the weather.

West Café

Another great spot on Porthmeor beach is West Café, which has recently opened up a space upstairs, allowing for more spacious dining and accommodating more guests. If you’re free on a Tuesday or Thursday night, you may also want to pop down for their Summer BBQ nights which have finally begun! West Café has a great, laid-back atmosphere which is typical of our coastal town and makes it a perfect holiday spot.

Porthminster Beach Café

With a remodelled outside terrace, Porthminster Beach Café is another great place for some beach-view alfresco dining – but with a twist. The terrace has been fully enclosed in glass, making it usable all year round whilst not interrupting the beautiful sea-view. Openings in the glass let the sea air circulate throughout, providing a cool and gentle breeze. A new decked area has also been added as an extension from the terrace where you can you can sit over the beach for drinks, cocktails, coffee and cake. Delightful!

The Searoom

The Searoom is a rebranding of the top, family-run restaurant The Tea Rooms. With the 2017 Good Food Award and a menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner offering up tasty, traditional seaside food including a variety of fish, we definitely recommend heading down for an authentic St Ives experience. The food is divine and the view is splendid, making this a winner in our books!
