Tim Petersen Company Director
Tim left a very busy career in Coffee shops behind in 2002, to move to St Ives, a place he absolutely adores and now calls home. Originally from Oxford, Tim fell in love with Cornwall & St Ives in particular, back in the 1990’s, where any spare moment was spent escaping city life , jumping in the car with Roo & their beloved Labradors to head South West for a fix of fresh sea air and beautiful beaches.
After relocating and running a successful B&B and their own holiday cottages for several years in St Ives, in 2011, Tim & Roo decided it was time to offer the holiday lettings market something different and started their own bespoke high end lettings agency, and priding themselves on personal service, attention to detail and luxurious properties, Cherished was born!
Tim’s enthusiasm for the business has flourished & with the backup of his loyal Cherished ladies, has seen the business grow over the years, while still remaining small and personable. In his spare time, Tim will always be out exploring St Ives and the surrounding area either on his road bike or with his son Alfie and their faithful Labradors Bertie & Icy!
Roo Petersen 4 June 1970 – 1 June 2015
Roo and Tim met in Oxford in 1990, and together they ran the family coffee shop business for nearly fifteen years. This was until Roo, smitten by the delights of St Ives & Cornwall, together with Tim made the exciting journey South West in 2002. Roo was the joint founder of Cherished Cottages and even chose the name which is so specific to how we carry out our business to this day. A very driven, passionate & focused woman, Roo dedicated herself wholeheartedly to every aspect of life. With her huge smile and warm, outgoing personality, she attracted friends wherever she went. Roo ensured that the foundations of her ideas for a bespoke luxury holiday lettings company would go from strength to strength.
Roo’s spare time was taken up being a devoted Mother to their loving son Alfie, and spending quality family time exploring the wonderful Cornish coastline and countryside with their Labradors Millie & Maisie, and in later years Bertie & Icy.
Her dream became a reality in ‘realising’ a very special quality of life in St Ives, for which she had always strived and her legacy remains at Cherished to this day. Roo passed away in June 2015 and will always be loved, remembered and missed by us all.

Amy Robson Property Support
Amy and her family fell in love with St Ives over 20 years ago when her parents invested in a holiday home within the Downalong location of the town. Most of her holidays have been enjoyed here, soaking up the sunshine on one of the many glorious beaches that we are so lucky to have and sampling the excellent food and drink on offer in the vast array of restaurants and bars that line the cobbled streets – what more could anyone want from life?
Having taught in an independent school in Warwickshire for almost a decade, Amy and her partner Oli decided the time was right for them to make the move to the coast. Since moving here (over three years ago), with the added welcome addition of her gorgeous rescued dog Eva, the three of them spend most of their time discovering more parts of this wonderfully picturesque county by stomping along many a coast path and rehydrating with a tipple or two afterwards.
Amy joined the Cherished Team in the Autumn of 2015 and being a self-confessed perfectionist, she makes keeping the properties looking tiptop her number one priority on every changeover all year round. With her hands on approach Amy will often be out meeting new owners and offering her advice on interior design for the lovely properties she signs up to the Cherished portfolio.
Christine Cusick Office Administrator
Born in London and having lived and worked there for over 30 years, Christine and her husband George decided it was time for a change and moved South in 1995. Joining them in this big exciting move were her (then 7 years old) daughter Laura and their two dogs. Christine’s mum is St Ives born and bred so it wasn’t exactly a move into the unknown, as her family had already moved back to St Ives from London a few years before (so they kind of followed them)! She has now been down here for over 20 years, and could never go back – having definitely made the right move! Now she spends her weekends with her family walking, eating out and “trying” to train their newly rescued lurcher Poppy.
Since living down here she has had several exciting jobs: including lecturing IT at a local College and having fun running their own pubs.
Two years ago she spotted the admin role at Cherished Cottages being advertised, and joined our happy team. Christine’s role is mainly office based: dealing with the paperwork, supporting our book-keeper Rachel, helping our guests, taking bookings, talking to our lovely owners, making tea and all the other hundreds of little things (too numerous to list) that help us keep our office ticking over.
Always excellent service.
Have stayed in several Cherished Cottages and have never been disappointed – we will definitely continue to book with you!
We really got the feeling that this company take pride in their work, we were so pleased when we arrived to find the apartment was as good as we had hoped!
Cherished Cottages (and their handyman!) remained friendly, helpful and professional throughout our booking, stay and afterwards too.
Including kindly not shouting at us when our younger dog ate the TV remote control (which we replaced!). Thank you CC! We recommend you and your beautiful properties to all!
Cherished Cottages have been wonderful to deal with.
The weather caused a few travel hiccups but the communication and assistance from Cherished Cottages was outstanding and very much appreciated.
