Naturally, when you are on holiday in lovely St Ives in one of our stunning pet friendly properties, during the busy summer months, you will want to take your four legged friends onto the beaches, but there are many other places that you can go where your pet will also be very welcome. As we all know, Cornwall is a fantastic venue for a dog friendly holiday, with miles of countryside walks as well as the beaches, but did you realise that many of our fabulous tourist attractions are now open to dogs too? Here are just a few of our personal favourites for you to choose from!
For example, the wonderful Eden Project welcomes dogs. Of course, they must be kept on a lead at all times and are not permitted in some of the indoor areas, including the Biomes (with the exception of guide or assistance dogs), but you can walk with them around the site, enjoy a meal “al fresco” and have a fantastic fun family day there with your pet – (who would have thought it?)!
The Lappa Valley Steam Railway in Newquay accept dogs (on leads) at a small charge of £1 per dog. A perfect way to spend fun-filled day chugging around on the steam railway with all the family and your dog! With places to eat, canoeing on the lake and crazy golf there is plenty of things to do for all of the family.
Another “different” day out for you and your four legged best friend to try is the Seal Sanctuary in Gweek! Throughout the day there are talks and feeding times all for your information and fun, these include meeting the Penguins, Otters, Sea Lions and the Seals! The Sea Sanctaury is now run by the Sea Life Trust which means you can learn about the conservation and protection of the sea and all the creatures that live in it. A fantastic educational day out for all the family (and a chance for your pet to meet some very different animals)!
If you prefer a more traditional day out at a local garden or woods we have quite a choice! For example we love the stunning subtropical paradise Trebah Gardens (approx 40 minute drive from St Ives) which is very pet friendly and picturesque, it even has it’s own beach (and an amazing cafe with perfect cakes and coffee)! And you can quite often find our boss Tim (and his trusted Labradors) walking around Tehidy Woods with its miles of woodland walks and lovely cafe is just a 20 minute drive away, total “Doggy Heaven”.
For more information (and to take a peek at all of the “Doggy Days Out”), we recommend you visit the “The Best Days Out in Cornwall” website as it has a full section of attractions for you and your pup to chose from. And don’t forget to send us in your pictures of you and your furry friends on our social media! We look forward to seeing your photos 🙂
