What began long ago as a few locals spilling out of the pub on New Year’s Eve adorning their best fancy dress. St Ives New Year’s Eve has quickly become an event that attracts revellers from far and wide.
As the new decade fast-approaches, St Ives has deservedly become one of the most popular destinations in the UK to see in the New Year.
St Ives becomes a street party!
New Year’s Eve in St Ives is one big street party. Every year, the cobbled streets become swamped with 1000’s of merrymakers from all over the country ready for a night of fun in the Cornish seaside town.
The night features fireworks, impromptu samba bands and food stalls plus sea creatures and normally a couple of Donald Trump’s to add to the list of never-ending fancy-dress costumes.
Rally your party and ramble down to the harbour front from 6pm when the roads in the town close. If you have children in your family, then the earlier you head into town the better. It gets very busy and it’s a long night.
Spend the evening drifting through the streets, in and out of the bars (if you can squeeze in) and pitch up on the harbour to watch the fireworks as the clock strikes midnight on Smeaton’s Pier.
The town of St Ives is ever welcoming of locals and friends of the town and will pull out all the stops to make sure everyone see’s in the new year in the best and most creative way possible.
