Hardy’s Cottage is the perfect fisherman’s cottage located very centrally in St Ives. Whether you are coming with family or friends, you are sure to find the cottage very comfortable with plenty of space for you to enjoy one another’s company, cook, drink, sleep or even snuggle down and watch a movie in front of the log burner. The Owners have thought of everything for you, providing storage outside for your wet & beach gear when we are blessed with those stunning sunny days to plenty of games, books and speedy internet in case the sun doesn’t decide to shine. Please read on for a descriptive introduction to the property.
Pre-arrival
- Should you require a Tesco food delivery or for a satellite navigation system, the postcode is TR26 1NU. Please note: for a delivery please ensure it is booked to be delivered after 4pm when you are there to receive it.
- Driftshore cottage is located on a narrow road with easy access by car.
- The nearest beaches are Porthgwidden and Bamaluz which are both located approx. 200-300 metres away. Porthmeor and The Harbour are located between 300-400 metres away.
- The main centre of St Ives is located 450 metres away.
- The nearest shop is located 250 metres away.
- The nearest supermarket (Tesco) is located 1 mile away.
- The bus and train stations are located ½ a mile away, plenty of taxi’s are available from both stations.
- The cottage is heated through individual radiators.
- Quality bed linen and towels provided.
- All beds have mattress and pillow protectors.
- The cottage is strictly non-smoking.
- There are mains smoke detectors and a fire procedure in place.
Arrival and Parking
- Please be advised that arrival time is strictly 4pm onwards.
- You can unload outside of the cottage before parking.
- The cottage does not have parking, however, The Island Car Park is a public car park located 50 metres away at the end of the street. Directions to the car park will be emailed to you before your arrival.
- On arrival there will be a welcome basket including Cornish provisions, tea bags, coffee milk and fresh flowers, however, we recommend that you shop at Tesco, Carbis Bay on your way into St Ives.
Ground Floor
- There are 5 concreted steps down into the courtyard off of Burrow Road. To your right you will find the outside storage for beach and wet items. To your left is another wooden shed where you will find the bins.
- There are then a further 10 concrete steps up to the front door of the cottage. The front door is a wooden stable door and can be split open should you wish.
- The front door opens up directly into the lounge with the stairs leading up to the 1st floor directly ahead of you.
- The lounge has 2 single arm chairs a large two seater sofa for your comfort.
- The room is heated through a radiator or a small log burner in the corner.
- There is a SMART LG TV and two bookshelves full of games and books for you to enjoy. There is also a Bluetooth speaker on the shelves.
- The cupboard under the stairs houses the hoover, mop and clothes horse.
- The lounge leads you straight into the kitchen/diner which houses all the usual mod cons such as; cooker, induction hob, a NEFF washer/dryer under the kitchen countertop, a small integrated dishwasher and an undercounter fridge which is ¼ freezer and ¾ fridge.
- There is plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware for 4 guests and we will provide you with tea towels, oven gloves, enough bin liners, dishwasher and clothes washing tablets to get you started.
- This room is heated through under floor heating where you will find the control panel on the wall behind the bread bin.
- The counter height is 90cm.
- There is a large dining table with plenty of seating and this room is well lit with spotlights and a hanging light over the dining table.
- The ground floor is well lit with spotlights running throughout, as well as lamps and plenty of windows for natural lighting,
- The windows are covered with roller blinds.
- There are 10 steps up the first floor. Please be aware the stair case is slim and steep.
First Floor
- Once on the first floor the main bathroom is directly ahead of you which has a toilet, a basin and a shower bath. There is a small window where the basin is positioned to allow natural light otherwise it is lit with spotlights and wall lights next to the mirror.
- The bath/shower has a rainfall shower head and there is a handheld arm depending on your preferences. There is a glass shower panel.
- The next room to the right of the bathroom is a zip and link room which features either two twin beds or a king size bed. There are hooks along the wall opposite the beds with hangers and a large set of drawers for clothes storage. This room looks directly onto Island Road.
- To the right of the twin room is the master bedroom.
- The master bedroom features a king-sized bed, two bedside tables and large lamps. There is a chest of drawers and TV hanging on the wall above it. There is a large walk-in wardrobe for you to store your items. This road has views of Burrow Road and a small sea view. The lockable storage cupboard is also in this room.
Outside
- The property has a small front courtyard which is shared with Hardy’s Studio. The bins and any beach gear can be stored in the wooden sheds provided.
Departure
- Check-out is strictly by 9am.
- On departure, one set of keys are to be left inside the property and the other set are to be returned to the key safe.
- You are asked to leave the cottage clean and tidy, any unreasonable additional cleaning required may be charged for.
