Atlantic Watch is one of our sea view properties, conveniently located just a few dozen steps from Porthmeor Beach, St Ives. It’s the perfect place for groups of friends or large families to use as a base to explore everything that St Ives and Penwith has to offer. The property boasts enough space to sleep 12, with five bathrooms, three car parking spaces, two lounges, a Mediterranean style terrace and private enclosed gardens. You’ll also find a welcome hamper of Cornish goodies, and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries.
And if all that isn’t enough to tempt you, here are some of the things that go on around Porthmeor Beach and the Penwith Peninsula to give you even more reasons to book a stay.
Sample the art
St Ives is synonymous with art, attracting artists from across Cornwall, the UK, and the globe thanks to its stunning landscapes. Atlantic Watch is located just down the road from the legendary Tate St Ives, home to exhibits from acclaimed local and international artists alike. The Tate itself is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment to allow it to offer an even greater selection of works and a more interactive experience, but you can still sample plenty in the many other local galleries, as well as the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. There are lots of art classes and courses available, so if you really want to get into the local spirit, attending one of these would make a perfect activity for the group.
Walk the South West Coast Path
Atlantic Watch is perfectly situated for easy access to the South West Coast Path. Setting off from St Ives, you can explore the coastline and enjoy a number of dramatic Cornish landscapes nearby, including Gurnard’s Head, a stunning rocky headland designated part of a Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and St Nicholas Chapel. Spend a few minutes on a bus and you could enjoy one of the more strenuous, circular routes further along the path, such as the loop around Pendeen which takes in Geevor Tin Mine and Chun Quoit.
Stay put and enjoy the beach
There are plenty of places you could go dashing off to, but with such an incredible beach located just below your front door, there’s no reason you need to go anywhere. In 2013 Porthmeor was one of only five Cornish beaches to hold a Blue Flag Award, given in recognition of water quality and safety, among other things. It’s perfect for surfers, swimmers, and those who just want to lie on the sand and enjoy a well-earned break.
Easy access to Cornwall with Atlantic view holiday cottages
Being located in Penwith means that you are within easy driving distance of idyllic Cornish towns and locations, such as Marazion, Mousehole and Porthcurno. You’ll find plenty of attractions, stunning landscapes, shops, cafes, art galleries, restaurants, pubs and, of course, beaches to explore and enjoy.
